This knife block holds all types and lengths of knives and kitchen shears. It fits 10-12 inch blades. The separated zones allows for safer segregation of knives.

I bought this at a brick and mortar. It worked great for a while and, as others have said, it's nice because you can fit all shapes and sizes of knives. After a bit, however, the "rods" start to compact and it makes inserting anything next to impossible. This leaves the blade exposed which is dangerous when you're trying to grab other knives. I've removed everything and cleaned it, but there is no way to straighten the rods.
Other issues, stainless is low-grade, but it's what you get for $50. Rubber feet on the bottom keep popping out if you move the block around. Knives sit at a fairly high angle, so if you plan on putting it under any standard-height cabinets, you will be moving it in and out a lot, reinserting the rubber feet often.
I think I'm being pretty generous with two stars for this review.

Just received the stainless model... Build quality and finish is excellent... matches other satin finish stainless appliances in the kitchen. Functionally, this does what I had hoped and I won't ever use a block again. As for other comments that the rods break, etc... I considered those when setting mine up and it appears that you just have to use common sense and not jam things into it. I have several ultra-sharp japanese knives and haven't seen any damage, including a cleaver. Good rule of thumb for me..when I tried unusual shapes like certain types of scissors and met some resistance, I just chose not to push it in further to test the limits of the rods. Seems that if you exercise a bit of care when placing knives in it that the rods should hold up quite well. Very pleased with this product.

This really is a good idea. I have several higher end knives, electric knife blades, kitchen shears and other misc things and they all fit in this thing great. The only knife that presents a problem is the tomato knife because of the fork like design at the end but at least now it is in my knife block and I can find it to use it.
