 "Excellent knives. " 2008-10-23

I purchased this product almost four years ago and they are the best knives I've ever owned. They have remained sharp and have held up perfectly. The butcher block still looks like new. Highly recommended.

"Perfect set of high end entry knives" 2008-05-15
By Felix Nazario (East Brunswick, NJ USA)
In the one month I have owned these knives, I have to say, they are truly a well-balanced, sharp looking, and sharp cutting set of knives. These knives replaced my stainless steel every day name brand knives and they have by far out performed the US made knives. I highly recommend these knives.

"The only knife set you'll ever have to purchase" 2007-09-30
By DH
If you're willing to pay this kind of money, you expect great knives. These won't disappoint. They did feel a little light at first, but after using them a few weeks it feels light, but solid and well balanced. The edges are phenomenal if you're upgrading from a cheap set.

Be sure to take good care of them, handwash only! And be sure to dry immediately. Learn how to properly use the steel, and these will last you a lifetime!

Paying for the more expensive sets (Classic line) isn't worth it in my opinion. The knives feel about the same, but the Classic line is supposedly made with higher quality metal and is "hand-forged." But "hand-forged" really means that there's some guy that tells a machine to forge it. Wusthof employees certainly aren't over in Solingen with a hammer and tongs over the anvil!

If you can afford these knives, it's not a purchase you will regret. There are definitely more knives than I need, but I will never wish I had just bought the next set up.

 "Cutlery Block" 2009-01-23
By D. Vuong
I ordered it on December 13th and I received it December 23rd with the Free Shipping. I needed a daily use block set because I love to cook and I wanted a eye-appealing since it was going to be sitting on the counter of my kitchen. The Block was nicely built and had a in-block sharpener which is fantastic. Each knife was sharp and felt heavy in the hand, which made it feel more stable. They were stainless steel and had a aerodynamic design which was very eye-pleasing especially in my stainless steel kitchen. The steak knives were not serrated, but cut easily into meat. The cheese set and mezzaluna were great bonuses along with the block set. They are not made with the same quality as the knife set so don't expect it. The cheese set is nice with wooden handles, and the mezzaluna is very sharp with plastic handle.

With the Omaha Steak Offer. As I recall it was a 3-Option deal. They would have either a chicken and burgers option, an steak and dessert option, or chicken and fish option. Don't quote me on that, it's just from memory. I found the offer under Special Offers on the page, but I'm sure you could search for it on amazon's website. You would need the UPC bar code from the box, the printout about the special offer, and the receipt from amazon that came from the box.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase and will buy from Chicago cutlery again, if not the same set.

"Great Knives for a Great Price!!" 2009-04-09
By C. Mullenbach (Helena, MT)
I ordered these knives based on reviews of these and other knives. I am very pleased. I got a great deal on them, less then $150. They are very well balanced and feel strong in your hand. There are more then enough knives to do any job you have. I was also pleased with the description on the box that explained what each knive was best used for. I have read many reviews that talk about the washing of knives and I started off on the right foot and washed, dryed, and put them away right after dinner.

By Gary W. Boore (Cumberland, MD)
A little early for a good review. Price was excellent compared to anywhere else I looked though.

I am not sure if i would have bought the Chicago knives if I had read the other reviews first. The rusting situation? .. I have a set of Miracle III's which will do the same thing if not taken care of properly. I just didn't think Stainless Steel was supose to rust?

They look great, one piece which I looked hard for. no gaps as some reviews i have read said theirs had.

 "High Quality Knives" 2009-06-29
By Jesus Freak
High quality knives. I've owned the for about a year now and have not really seen them dull too much. Straight out the box they are very sharp and are well worth the money. I make sure not to use them on plastic cutting boards to keep the knives from dulling.

"Completely satisified: good knives at their price point" 2009-04-27
By Just a consumer (USA)
I bought these knives a few months ago, when they were bundled with a mezzaluna, some cheese knives, some free Omaha steaks, and an Amazon bonus of a year's magazine subscription. I am completely satisfied that I got a good deal at the mid-double-digit price available then. They've got all the basics you want for a decent inexpensive knife set: they hold a sharp edge, got full tangs and bolsters, and of all of China Cutlery's (oops, I mean Chicago Cutlery's) models, the best type of handle (i.e. riveted polymer). The knives feel good in the hand, and there's plenty of them (16 total: 8 steak knives, 2 small peeler-parers, 2 sizes of utility knives, and 1 each of boning, bread, chef, and santoku).

If I were rating the set independent of its price, there are issues that would lower the rating to about 3 stars. The knives seem to discolor more quickly than average: one time when I forgot to clean them right away, the "stainless" steel stained slightly. The design of the kitchen shears earns maybe 1 star: they made the shears multi-purpose by extending the blades beyond the handles, adding what looks like a bottle opener and a screwdriver to the ends which get in the way when you use them as shears. Those with big hands will also find the handles of the shears too small. The storage block earns maybe 2-3 stars: the design is not tailored to the knives you get (the upper-left slot looks designed to hold a sharpening steel), and the slots for the steak knives are uneven, resulting in a cheap look to the set as it sits on your countertop. I get around the latter issue by just hiding them in a corner behind a microwave. :-)

Nevertheless, at the right price the knives are a good value.

 "Delighted!" 2009-04-11
By R. Campbell (California)
Twenty-six years ago my husband and I received a set of Chicago Cutlery knives as a wedding gift. They were not as high-quality as these knives, but they served us well until the wooden handles started to deteriorate (this was largely due to our family neglecting to take care of them properly). We have just remodeled our kitchen and decided to update its contents as well so we purchased this beautiful new set of knives. They are sturdy, easy to use, and elegantly designed. I am especially pleased with the variety included in the set and the in-block knife sharpener. A great product and worth the price!

 "Great for non-chef type" 2009-03-10
By Joemamajoedaddy (CA)
Purchased these for my wife. Neither one of us are professional chefs and had no idea what to look for in knives and didn't want to spend a ton of money. We were tired of hacking our food with the knives we had. These are a great set of knives, very sharp and very durable. If you have kids warn them before they use them. I tend to use one of the smaller knives frequently. It is easy to handle and cuts right through carne asade.
