I got this as a gift.

I really like how it looks.

I only have two small comments about it:

1.) It is taller than you think.

2.) The knives are not really dishwasher safe.

I have rust spots on mine. They cut just fine, but aren't that pretty anymore. I could polish them I guess. Just my two cents.

I saw this product in the Fireworks store in Seattle, WA. I did not see it at that time in Amazon. So I ordered it from Fireworks. A few weeks later I saw it in Amazon for almost half the price. Anyway, I saw some negative comments about this product. I am a non-violence advocate; so the thought of violence did not occur to me when I saw this product. Although the figure is made of plastic (I was expecting it to be ceramic), the knives are excellent; worth the price. It is a conversation piece. I love it; I always love something different and unique.

I just recieved this knife "ex" and I absoultely love it. Its pretty tall and beautifully colored. And me and my friends cant stop talking about it.Also, the knifes that come with it are amazingly sharp. the stand has magnets inside it so the knifes dont just fall out,and the covers in the back protect you from hurting yourself or anyone else other than the "ex" I am now going to decorate my kitchen around this great little item. I fell in love with this at first sight -- it resonates with my rather odd sense of humor, I guess. I decided to take a chance on it -- I needed a set of decent knives for my "home away from home," and after reading the reviews, I ordered.



It's very sturdy -- heavy plastic, it arrives in two pieces, and it takes only seconds to mount the figure onto the base.



The knives are very good quality, nicely weighted stainless steel. The "block" has heavy clear plastic sleeves in back to protect both the knives and the user, and the knives are secured in place with hidden magnets that "grab" each knife as it is slipped in place -- nice safety feature.



This is a fairly large unit -- 14+" tall, about 8-9" in diameter. I purchased the white one, to work with the rest of my counter-top appliances, but it comes in several other colors (red, green, black, chrome).



This would be a great housewarming gift for a divorced friend.

I got this as a house warming gift a year ago, and love the humor of it.



I have the plastic chrome one that cost $20 more, huge waste of the extra money, the stand is super cheap, crappy and looks way better in the photo than in person. It is hard to keep clean, and is all ways dusty and spotty looking, I would advise to get the red or black one.



The knifes are good I use them daily. They will rust a little if you don't keep them clean and dry, not recomended for the dishwasher.

I had admired this for a long time prior to purchasing it. It may be because of all the build-up that the end result it such a let down.



To be fair, the knives are of good quality; not the best, but by no means are they a total waste of time.



The construction does leave much to be desired though. The base is rather cheap feeling, light-weight plastic, and the chrome paint/layer they put on should be a bit more durable considering this model costs $30 more than the others.



It IS nifty, and it IS attractive (for now.....) but I could not recommend this purchase to anyone else..... As a matter of fact, I'll probably give it to the first person who comes to visit and seems truely taken with it.

I got this for the wife and she just loves it! Not long after she started using it she taped a picture of my face on its head, giving us both a good laugh, what a wiseacre! She cooks a lot more now that I got it for her so it has benefits for me, as well. I often find her standing in the kitchen for hours just taking the knives out, honing or sharpening them, and putting them back in.



She's so happy I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with her standing over me sweating with a wide-eyed grin on her face. All-in-all a fantastic product!

The quality of these knives are great! The blades are well sharpened and the handles are of good weight and shape. The only thing I am a bit disappointed about is the fact that the holder is made of plastic (I was expecting a heavier material). I got this gift as a birthday present, and of course didn't save the packaging. After the first couple washes of the knives (I put everything in the dishwasher, not sure if you are suppose to) and I think pretty much all of them have little rust spots now. They are still super sharp, but just a little marred with the rust spots. I think when I first opened it, it said something about a lifetime sharpness on the knives? My recommendation would be just to save the paperwork.

-Take that soccer mom driving a minivan while smoking and talking on the cellphone!

In all seriousness, there really isn't too much negative that can be said about this product. The statue is solid plastic with a high shine. All that's needed is a little periodic dusting. The base is solid, sturdy, and wide enough that it won't tip over. It's anatomically correct in the same ambiguous fashion as the depressingly gelded Ken doll. It fits well in the corner of a counter-top, and the back ends have plastic safety sleeves in case your kids are adventurous and a little stupid.



The 5-piece knife set is stainless steel that has done tons of work in my kitchen (and that one time on a roadside in Guatemala) for a year now without stains, rust, or too much dullness setting in. All the blades are of pretty good quality; with four variously sized regular blades, and one well-designed bread knife that dives through a baguette faster than Jason Vorhees' machete can gut a promiscuous teenager smoking marijuana at Summer camp.



Highly recommended for the chic budding chef or the American Psycho enthusiast!

I bought this set as a unique conversation piece. We had recently remodled a kitchen, and had a spot to fill on a bare counter. I had seen the product once in a specialty store. I will probably never actually use any of the knives, but they seem to be of pretty good quality. The holder itself is made of plastic, with a large base to keep it sturdy. It also seems to be made to last, even with daily use.

For what I purchased the product for, I am very satisfied.

I first saw this in Europe on vacation and I loved it from the start. I ended up getting it for a great price for my boyfriend as an anniversary present two years ago. We have an unusual sense of humor in our house and this piece fits perfect. As others have said, the holder is plastic and not ceramic or a heavier material. The knives themselves are pretty average quality. But you're not buying this for the knives really. You're buying this for the look on your guests faces when you ask them to get you the bread knife.

Question -- If the figure was in the shape of woman with knives going through; would it have as many good reviews?



I seriously doubt it. In fact if the holder did resemble a female figure {ex or no ex} every feminist group, every woman whose been abused, (as a matter of fact EVERY woman period) would fight to have the product banned!!



Better quality knife sets can be purchased for less money. As far as the ex, everybody has a few bad ones (man or woman). If the relationship was so bad that knives come to mind when thinking of the person; well then you should have left a long time ago. You also need to let it go and move on. The faster you do; the happier you will be...and with better quality knives.
