I bought this set on sale for $100 and all in all, I suppose it was worth the price. Don't expect extreme precision, heavy weight or razor sharp edges; they aren't professional grade knives. But the knives are firm, the handles are comfortable and this makes a reasonable starter set. The wooden block is very attractive, as are all the knives. On to the negative: The steak knives could not slice a ripe tomato! They are neither serrated or sharp enough to make up for it. I use them as butter knives. The idea of using them to slice meat baffles me. And the knives will rust very quickly. Do not leave them damp for even an hour or two! The set does not come with a proper paring knife or a good fish/boning knife, therefore it is quite incomplete. I recommend passing on this set and spending an extra $100 or so on something of higher quality.
