I have had this set for about 15 years. Great at first but then difficulty with sharpening. Last year I purchased the Henckel knife sharpener and now I can keep them razor sharp. Soo much better. My son kept telling me to buy the sharpener (I have used cheap sharpeners without success) but I just guessed whatever. Now I swear by the knives since I purchased the sharpener. The santoku knife would not even cut a tomato without first piercing the tomato with the knife tip - very unsatisfactory

This is overall a nice set of knives, good weight and they don't bend too much. The price is the selling point here, Henckels International means "made in China or Taiwan" not Germany but overall it is a nice set. If you are the person who wants the German name this is not for you but if you want a knife that is sharp and ready to use every day, give them a try.

I read all the online reviews before ordering this set and they made me a little nervous, however, I'm happy to report that the knives are perfectly fine. This is my first set of nicer knives (they replaced my college knives which were bought 10 years ago from walmart!) so I don't have much to compare them to. They cut everything I want them to cut without nearly as much as my old knives and without a problem. Overall I'm very satisfied. Are there nicer knives out there? Without a doubt, but you pay a lot more for those. This is a solid starter set for a good price.

I have used Global knives professionally as a Chef/Restauranteur and at Home for many years. I still have the first Global I ever bought the 11" Forged Chefs Knife it has done alot of serious cutting and still looks new. I have many more now but that was my first Global and what a knife it is.



The ergonomics and looks alone would sell these knives but couple that with their edge holding and incredible sharpness and they are truly the Ferrari of knives. They offer a perfect nonslip grip for any size hand and the balance and light weight make using them a a breeze. Also the metal storage block not only looks cool but will not dull your knives like a wood block does. BONUS.



Considering that you will be passing on these knives from generation to generation the cost should not be a serious concern. There are no handles or bolsters to break (or gather germs) they are one piece of perfectly balanced steel. If you take reasonably good care of these knives they will last you a lifetime of hard use and your kids lifetime too. My Globals have chopped, peeled and sliced for literally hundreds of thousands of people. I seriously doubt most of you will put them through that. But it is good to know that they will take it in stride.



I even take mine on vacation with me, not all of them just the basic kit I refuse to cook without them. We take long vacations and know we eat better at the rented home or villa than at most of the restaurants in what ever area we are in. One of the perks of being a Chef, don't worry we still give the finer eateries a spin it is a vacation after all. The locals have to eat too!

These knives do the job and are very sharp... but:



You must wash AND dry the knives immediately after use.



Without doing that, you will get rust spots on the knives.



It already happened to a few of the steak knives for me. It doesn't come off completely, so be careful!

Plenty of knives, and I love the fact that you get a sharpener (which many knife blocks leave out these days). I got this set at a pretty steep discount (around $60 I think), and it was well worth it at that price.



The steak knives are about what you would expect, the scissors are nice to have, and the chef's knife comes out of the box extremely sharp and ready to do some serious cooking. The knives are heavy and durable, so it doesn't require much effort to cut through even the toughest foods. This was the perfect set for me, not too many knives, but you have enough to do the basic tasks. I personally don't think that you need to spend $200-$300 to get a good knife set, this one does the job extremely well.

This block of knives is pretty complete. It has all the knives a typical kitchen would need. Notably, it has a 7" santoku and kitchen shears (scissors). The block is also a nice touch. However, the knife handles are a little too short to be holding it comfortably. The material of the plastic white handles have a brushed finish, rather than a polished finish--raising concerns of whether they can stay clean and white over the long run. It was recently on sale for a very low price of $20, so any drawbacks are completely overshadowed by the price.

The knives are fantastic! But the 7 inch knife does not fit in the birchwood holder. It hits the bottom and stands up about an inch. Like it wasn't made for that particular knife! I called Furi and they said they did not make this particular set. The knives are theirs but not sold in this type set and they did not make the holder!



Once again, the knives slice, peel & dice like everything is butter! But I'm dissapointed in the holder for this price.

I got these knives about 6 months ago and I am still very satisfied. I am happy with the variety and quality of the knives. The orange handles are comfortable and look nice and modern paired with the birch block.



Another feature that I didn't think I would care about but do like is that the knives rest in the block upside down. Basically, when you slide it in, the blade doesn't slice into the block, but instead it rests safely facing upward.



I would definitely recommend these knives!

I had a drawer full of old knifes that I never used because they were hard to cut with. I got rid of all of them and replaced them with this set. Now all my knives are organized nicely on the counter. They cut great; I have used them for vegetables, meat, fruit, pizza etc. I use at least one every night when I make dinner. I only wish I had the shearers...I may end up buying them separately. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they were so expensive but Amazon had them cheaper than anywhere else.

Purchased these knives for my parents. Before presenting the set to them - I first did an inspection. The first thing you realize is just how inadequate all other knives are in their grip. These knives simply refuse to slip - and I believe this would likely be the same case when your hands may become wet or slippery i.e. slicing vegetables, etc. I have my own set of classic Wusthof and I almost dread the thought of them slipping out of my hand. The Furi knives are rather bigger and heavier than most other ones I've seen - but again - the extra heft definitely serves to increase the confidence level that you will not lose control when using such sharp knives. Definitely recommended. I will also be adding a set to my own kitchen....especially when considering their relative low cost.

As others have mentioned, the magnet in this holder is incredibly strong and would (I imagine) provide years of service; however, the frame and mounting hardware are not of a corresponding quality. I attempted to install this using the provided drywall screws and had just decided to find alternate (better) hardware when I accidentally knocked the bar from a shelf to the counter--a distance of less than a foot. That short fall damaged the bar beyond repair. The front grid bent in several places and due to the extremely soft nature of the material, I was unable to reshape it adequately enough to refit it to the bar. Based on the other reviews and the quality of the magnet, I'd guess this is a great piece that performs as expected...just treat it very, very carefully when installing and definitely avoid the included mounting hardware.

After reading the reviews, I decided to buy this knife rack. I've had it for about a year now and I wasn't disappointed. It looks just as good as the first day it was first up on the wall. Admittedly, it was a bit tricky (but not frustrating) to put up, but I'm sure that's a user problem, and nothing more. I highly recommend it- it keeps my knives within easy reach, holds even my big and heavier knives and can fit even more than I thought on it, AND looks very "gourmet". This is a good product!
