"ANALON 15 PIECE CUTLERY SET" 2008-10-30
By E. Rozzi
To soon to evaluate the sharpness of the knives in the set. But what I would like to mention is how disappointed I was after receiving the set, that it looked incomplete, in that, there is an empty slot but no tool to go inside of it. I thought I was missing a piece. I contacted Analon who said that's the way it comes. I asked if I could purchase an additional piece to fill the slot. They only sell sets and not individual pieces.

I spent a great deal of money for this set and I am not satisfied with what I received. It was a wedding gift and I feel quite embarrassed about the incomplete look of the set.

 "Basics bargain" 2008-12-29
By Martin Levine (Phillipsburg, NJ USA)
Was on super sale at a local retailer. Couldn't resist the fame of the name for the price. Avoid the dishwasher, clean and dry, treat kindly, and they will perform fine and you won't complain like some of the others. What do you expect for the price, a high end item? The hardwood handles look more classy than plastic. Not a 5 star product, but a 5 star value for the budget minded.

 "Not bad" 2008-12-28

I love Chicago Cutlery this is a good basic set. I wish it wasn't all serated edges but for a wood handle set of set of Chicago Cultery its a good entry level set.

"Sad day for kitchen cutlery" 2008-01-02
By Sondra C. Seilstad (Great Falls, MT)
I bought these at a local retailer thinking that Chicago Cutlery was a respectable brand, but when I opened them up, I found that the blades were rather weak and easily bendable, the handles were not well attached, and they weren't very sharp. They had a good variety of knives, but the craftsmanship was terrible. Do not buy these!

 "Low End Knives" 2007-12-29
By T. Anderson (Mountainous WV)
Agree with the above 2 reviews. The workmanship is fair at best. The sharpest knife cuts the apple with more effort than my 5 years old serrated knife. Bought on sale from a retailer. I am taking them back

Absolutely poor product....see N.C. Cook's review. Handles seperate easily, split, etc. (were hand washed only) Not worth repeating...JUNK.

 "Not as advertized" 2009-04-15
By cboy nock (Gambrills, Md.)
Beware, the picture clearly shows a Santoku knife but that is not what you get. You get a cleaver, to me a cleaver has little to no value in the kitchen. My decision to buy this set was made because of the santoku knife. Very disappointed, I probably will not expend the effort to return the item just because I do not want to go through tthe hassle.

 "fantastic cutlery" 2008-06-30
By J. Sizemore
I was so lucky to find this set of Cutlery. I had three different sets of Faberware Cutlery before this and loved all of them. I found the chefs, and all the others except the stake knives for $12.98 at Ross. That is new and I sharpened them and they are fantastic. I did not know that Cuisinart had anything to do with Farberware untill I looked them up on the web. I would have spent the money for them anyway but what a bargain I got. Love Them...

"Nice try - but has plastic handle" 2007-12-24
By M. Nabors
I was lured in by the fact that these knives were forged and that the metal went all the way through the knife. Not bad. What isn't clear is that the handle, which cases the knife is hollow plastic. The ones that were shipped to me were damaged, and I could easily see how cheap the plastic is surrounding the knife. One bad move and you would be left without a handle - just a long piece of metal. I wasn't expecting $300 knives for this purchase, but with this plastic casing these were overpriced. This would have been a good buy for about $45.

 "Horrible!!!!!!" 2008-12-21
By George (USA)
These knives are junk!

I have had 2 break off at the handle. One broke while I was cutting an apple. The blade broke off and flew up in my face. They can not cut good at all. They are very expensive for the junk they are. Don't waste your money.

 "Farberware Pro RUST!" 2007-10-30
By LK (Boston, MA USA)
Look nice, feel nice and are sharp BUT they rust horribly. Why do they call these stainless? I handwash and dry them immediately and they are a mess. I would never recommend these to anyone. Farberware, what happened and why aren't you standing behind your product with a supposed 'lifetime warranty?' Consumers, do not waste your money. A real rip off.

 "quality knives" 2007-09-11

A variety of knives for your everyday kitchen use. Although it says dishwasher safe, a few have already had a bit of rusty spots on them.

"I LOVE this knife set!" 2007-09-07
By Effie (New England)
I've had such good results with this knife set that I hope to counteract some of the negative reviews it has gotten. I noticed a lot of people are having trouble with these knives rusting in the dishwasher -- I always hand-wash and immediately dry these knives, which is what I think the manufacturer would recommend. NEVER put these in a dishwasher. If that is asking too much, then you shouldn't get this knife set. A couple of times when they have been left in the sink overnight they have developed a tiny rust spot, but it goes away when my husband sharpens them for me. These knives did arrive dull, but the set comes with a sharpener for a reason -- you're supposed to sharpen them initially and regularly thereafter. When they are kept sharpened and rust-free, they are EXCELLENT knives, not to mention beautiful! I have small hands and these knives fit perfectly and comfortably. For the price this is an excellent knife set, it just requires the same amount of care as the more expensive brands.

 "good value" 2006-08-22

First, a number of reviews below express suprise and indignation that "stainless steel" kniives would get discolored or rust in th a dishwasher or if not dried.

Those reviewers have not bothered to learn anything about knives or metalurgy and the meaning of "stannless steel".

Fact: ANYTHING made of stainless steel will rust in a dishwasher!

Second: these are good knives which sharpen to a good edge and have an intelligent balance. A decent value for the price.
