Great material and looks good on the counter without taking up too much space. I would have preferred horizontal slots. I think the blade will remain sharper longer if the blade edge didn't side in vertically. There's only one large slot for the chef's knife. my sandoku knife barely wedges in the other slot. I do love it

This item is about as I expected, arrived without delay, and was immediately put to use. For some reason knife blocks are usually very expensive and of large capacity. This is the first reasonably priced (under $30), reasonably sized (nine slots, counting a steel holder and a slot for kitchen shears)knife block I've run across. The quality is good; the design is practical and attractive. I certainly recommend it.
