"not as nice as I'd hoped" 2009-03-28

I was replacing avg starter knives. I thought I was making a move to quality knives. These are not sharp. The block was awkward and took up too much counter space. I kept them, but used my old knife block.

 "JA Henkels 10-Piece Knife Set " 2009-01-07

I purchased this knife set as a Christmas gift for my daughter, and she just loves it. She's pleased with how sharp they are and was absolutely tickled when she carved her rib roast nice and thin. My husband and I opened the package when it arrived and discovered the knives have a nice weight without being too heavy, are well balanced, and the handles are long enough that you can get a good, safe grip

 "not good-not bad" 2008-12-03
By Rob Edwards (Oklahoma)
This is overall a nice set of knives, good weight and they don't bend too much. The price is the selling point here, Henckels International means "made in China or Taiwan" not Germany but overall it is a nice set. If you are the person who wants the German name this is not for you but if you want a knife that is sharp and ready to use every day, give them a try.

 "It's okay" 2008-07-15

I used twin signature before. The quality is surely less than twin signature, but it's much cheaper than twin, too.

So, it's okay when think about the price.

"Good value for the (sale) price." 2008-04-28
By Bob Bob (Austin, Texas USA)

I've had this knife set for almost a year now and have used it practically every day, yet it's just as beautiful as the day I bought it. One thing I noticed in particular was how much sharper it was right out of the box compared to similar collections I looked at. The bread knife is especially a joy to use; it slices french loaves effortlessly.

The variety of knives means you'll always have the right tool on hand, now matter what comes your way. This also has an added bonus if you share the kitchen with someone, and as such I think it makes an excellent couple's first knife set. For example, while I'm using the 7" santoku to slice squash for a side dish, my girlfriend can use the 5" santoku to slice cucumber for a salad; dinner is done twice as fast.

Pros:

German steel; wonderful wood block; solid, yet comfortable handles; easy to clean; good overall balance and weight.

Cons:

Although it looks like one, don't expect this to perform like a $300 knife set.

Overall:

A steal for $80!
