I think these knives are great. They are very sharp and it definitely makes my life so much easier when slicing and chopping veggies, meats, etc. This was a smart purchase.

Beware of the tricky marketing Henckel is using with these sets. Only the kitchen knives in this set are forged. The steak knives are stamped. The kitchen knives themselves are great. Solid, hefty, very well-made (in China, not Germany, if that matters to you) and extremely sharp, just like good-quality European-style knives are supposed to be. I really wish Henckels had included a Bread knife with this set, though. A Chef and Santoku knife are built to handle a lot of the same things, so why include both of those but no Bread? Rust has not been an issue for me like it has been for other reviewers. This set will be perfectly fine for casual chefs (like me), but you do get what you pay for when it comes to knives, and there's a reason why most of Henckels' other knife lines are so much more expensive than these.

For about a month the knives were fine until they started rusting. There are rust spots all over my set and I will be shipping them back to Henckel's in hopes that this situation will be remedied. The rust after one wash was so bad it was disintegrating the blade. I would not recommend preparing food with a rusted blade.
