 "Just OK" 2009-04-20
By Elissa R. Dellosso (Cary, NC)
I purchased this cart so that I could transport food and dishes from the kitchen, which is in the front of my house, to the patio bar-b-q in the back and because I could fold it and put it away.

The construction is not that good. The slats are bowed and one joint in the bottom shelf came apart as soon as we put it together. Also, when folded, there is no way for it to stand up, so now it sits in my kitchen full time, which I didn't want.

It does give me a lot of room to bring everything outside in one trip.

 "NOT A BAD PIECE" 2008-08-22
By SHH! (Belchertown, MA United States)
ORDERED TWO - ONE ARRIVED SMASHED. PROMPT REPLACEMENT. NOT THE BEST CONSTRUCTION, BUT LOOKS NICE AND THE FOLDING FEATURE IS WONDERFUL. A UNIQUE AND HANDY DESIGN. CASTER LOCKS AREN'T THE BEST EITHER, BUT WORK OK.

"Nice design but needs better packaging to survive shipping" 2008-05-22
By Wayne A. Seltzer (Boulder, CO USA)
Note that the knife block on this left is just that -- not a leaf/extension that flips up.

(I thought it did when I ordered it, but I was mistaken; wishful thinking, I suppose.)

I don't think the knife block is particularly useful, unless you're planning to use this as a table for carving, slicing, etc. And, even then, the cart is only sturdy enough for light duty work.

(I might eventually remove it; just two screws.)

On the other hand, the folding design is great. Just right for some extra serving space when needed, but

folds up out of the way when you don't. And, that's what I was shopping for in the first place.

Mine arrived with a some damage. One of the shelves cracked near the hinged side.

I don't think the packaging is good enough to survive the typical shipping process without

some sort of damage.

Amazon certainly would have replaced this, but I thought it would be a waste of energy and resources.

I repaired it myself with the strong wood glue and some clamps. If you look close, you can find my glue

job, but it's not a big deal.

Amazon offered a 20% refund in lieu of replacement.

Fair enough, considering the hassle of packing it all back up, shipping it back, and waiting for a replacement.

 "Great for Extra Storage" 2008-04-27
By Frequent Shopper
This is a nice cart for kitchens that lack storage space. I actually purchased a second one because I was so pleased with the first.

Pros:

1. Easy assembly. It is pretty much ready to go out of the box. The body of the cart unfolds easily, the wheels just pop in, and there are only a few screws each for the paper towel holder and the knife block.

2. It is relatively attractive. For the $100 (approximate) we paid for each cart, I could not ask for much more. I did not have the marks on either cart that the previous reviewer mentioned.

3. Light-weight and folds up easily, so if we move and no longer need the extra shelving, it will fit easily into storage.

Cons:

1. Could be sturdier. While the main frame of the cart is quite sturdy, the cross (filler?) beams are not nearly as strong, so I would make sure that if anything heavy is on the shelves, that it spans fully from the rear to the front of the cart (i.e. I keep 8 to 10 12-packs of cola on the bottom shelf).

 "Quality Control Lacking" 2008-04-07
By terryoregon (Beaverton, OR USA)
The quality control on this is lacking.

(1) The screw holes drilled into the top shelf for the side handle did not align, forcing you to start the screws yourself on one side (without using the pre-drilled holes).

(2) There were dark stains on the wood slats that could not be removed, even with abrasive cleaner (see photos)

(3) The top shelf is two separate sections. One section is a little higher than the other on one side, which means the top shelf is not flat across the entire top.
